Busy Weekend

May 25, 2007

Friday night was Uncle Josh's Graduation from High School. We got to see everyone. We went out to dinner before Graduation and Jack was an angel. Graduation was outside so Jack loved it but he didn't want to go to sleep when it was time, too much to see. He did great until he decided that he wanted to "talk". He's pretty loud when he does that so I just stepped away with him, but we got to see Uncle Josh get his diploma. Of course Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Amy were there and Uncle Joey. We all stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's. The next morning we all got up and went to Trade Day (the outdoor flea market). Jack loved it but it was pretty hot so he ended up in his diaper by the time we left.

Saturday we went to see Nana and Pop. Uncle Mike and Ashley and Tyler were there. We played outside more and took a long nap. Aunt Angie and Uncle Todd came over with the kids for dinner. Jack was so tired he went down early at 8 and slept til 4. He was only up long enough to take a bottle and then slept til 8. After breakfast we went to help Aunt Angie move to Huntsville. We are so glad that she is going to be closer to us. Jack did great while we were moving. PawPaw figured out that Jack likes ice cubes when it's hot. Jack was so tired by the time we got home. He laid down at 5 pm for what I thought was a nap and didn't get up til 1 am. And again, just up long enough for a bottle.

Weekend Away

May 18, 2007

We have been so busy lately. Some event to be at every weekend. Well, this weekend we had two weddings in different cities and neither one being Huntsville or Fort Payne. So, on Friday Nana and Pop picked Jack up to spend the night. I'm not sure why it bothered me so much. He has spent the night away before but it seemed harder this time. They played and had lots of fun. Aunt Angie and the girls even came over to see them. Then on Saturday Grandma and Grandpa picked him up to spend the night with them. More playing and fun. Playing and fun can also be known as "spoiled" by all parties involved over the weekend. Grandma and Grandpa brought Jack home on Sunday. They came rolling up in the convertible with the top down and Jack had his sunglasses on. So very cute.
Jack is now 5 months old. Time goes so fast. He is incredibly active, always moving. He wants to stand up a lot and always kicks his legs. That explains the muscle definition in his legs. He smiles and laughs and babbles a lot. He loves to eat his fruits and veggies. Squash, bananas, pears and peas are among the favorites. We're still waiting for the first tooth. He rolls around a lot now. You know the doctors want them to sleep on their backs? Well, Jack won't anymore. He figured out that he is much more comfortable on his tummy. So as soon as you lay him down, he flips right over. He's all over the crib. He is also trying to sit up by himself. He does well with the boppy pillow behind him. He's changing fast.

Mother's Day

May 13, 2007

Wow! What an amazing feeling to know that you are "the mommy" for this beautiful baby. We had a wonderful Mother's Day. All of the Grandparents, Uncle Joey and Uncle Josh came over. The weather was great so we sat on the patio most of the day. Jack loves to be outside. He played in his exersaucer and ate bananas, yummy. He really thinks that Oli is funny these days. He plays close attention to what Oli is doing and laughs when we chase Oli. Jonathan cooked some great ribs on the grill and we had a nice dinner.

First BBQ Festival

May 4, 2007

This weekend we attended the annual Whistle-Stop BBQ Festival. Jonathan and our friend Marshall have team named "Fallin Apart". It's a lot of fun. Jonathan cooks the ribs and Marshall cooks the chicken. There are lots of activities for children and lots of good music but mostly there is good food. Last year during the competition we had just found out that we were expecting Jack. He had lots of fun being there this year. I was so proud of him because it was a lot for him to take in and he did great. Lots of new faces, lots of new sounds and smells. We walked him around in his carrier and he played on a blanket a lot. I had to strip him down to his diaper because it was so hot. He was OK with that because he likes to be naked. I have seen him roll over to his tummy several times but he usually cries when he gets over. Not this weekend, he rolled from his tummy to his back a lot and loved it. He's moving around a lot on his tummy. Could he be crawling soon??

More shots

May 2, 2007

Today we had to go to the doctor for Jack's 4 month well-baby visit. He had to have 3 immunizations and his rotovirus medicine. Dr Cochran again said that he was "just perfect". He weighed 12 pounds and 11 ounces and was 25 1/4 inches long. So that makes him pretty skinny. Dr Cochran said not to worry about it, that he's making up his weight with his length and head. Hopefully that means that he will be tall like Jonathan instead of short like me. The nurse got ready to give his shots and he was smiling at me and then she stuck him. There was like a 15 second pause with Jack silent and eyes wide. He looked at me like, "WHAT WAS THAT?!!". Then...the cry. I picked him right up and gave him a bottle and he didn't make another peep. What a big boy. He fell asleep with his bunny on the way home. When he woke up he was in a great mood. He's laughing a lot now. Everything goes right in his mouth so he gets pretty irritated at the toys on his exercaucer because he can't get them off and in his mouth. I feel like the most blessed person in the world to have such a wonderful baby.

Weekend at Nana & Pop's

April 27, 2007

Jonathan had a bachelor party-camping trip with some friends this weekend, so Jack and I went to stay the weekend with Nana and Pop. We even got to eat dinner with Grandma and Grandpa and see Uncle Mike on Friday night. We had a great weekend. On Saturday morning we went to an outdoor flea market. We even carried Oli and Niko. I carried Jack around in his carrier and he loved it. He liked the sunshine and the breeze in his face. The weather was great. Of course he fell asleep about half way around. After that we went to see Lindsay play softball. Jack really likes to be outside. On Sunday we went to church. Jack did pretty good. At least I didn't have poop in my hand this time. After church we stretched out on a blanket in the grass and played. He changes more every day. I love to watch him grow.
