Four months already!!

April 20, 2007

So Jack is four months old already. We just can't believe it. It seems like yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital. He has changed so much. There is something different every day. Jack now loves his toes. I don't blame him, I do too. Whether it's him playing with them or you playing with them, he loves it. I'm glad it's getting warm outside so he doesn't have to wear socks all the time. His fingers...in his mouth all of the time. He even gets a hold of Jonathan's fingers a lot and promptly places them in his mouth. He doesn't do that with mine. The only thing I can figure is that I use a lot of hand sanitizer and it probably doesn't taste so good. Toys...whatever can fit into his mouth. Surely we will see a tooth soon. We have lots of drool and have lots of spit bubble wars, he loves that. He always wins.

Jack can roll onto his side. He's only made it to his belly a couple of times. I'm not sure if that's purposeful or not because he doesn't like to be on his belly. He's usually in a different position in his crib in the mornings than the one I laid him down in. He wants to be sitting up most of the time. He has a pod chair so that he can sit up by himself. It's little so we can take it anywhere.
He's also starting to splash around in the tub a lot.

We started Jack on some baby food. So far the favorites are squash, peas and oatmeal with bananas. He's not a fan of rice. He cried and cried like I put poop in his mouth. He wouldn't swallow it the first time. I had to get it out of his mouth.

He also loves for me to sing to him. I have no idea why because I can't sing, at all. Maybe it is because I act so goofy when it is just him and me. Among his favorites are Winnie the Pooh and that "1, 2, 3, 4 Come on baby say you love me" song. He also loves it when we play head, shoulders, knees and toes. He smiles a lot and laughs sometimes. He babbles too, making occasional sounds that sound like a syllable. So now there is a war between Jonathan and myself. The "mama" and "dada" war. I'll be sure to let you know who wins that one.

He's finally fitting into his 3 month clothing and we went to stage 2 diapers. That diaper transition made me kind of sad. But I love to watch him grow. He's just beautiful to me.

Road Trip!!

April 13, 2007

We really wanted to take Jack to Chicago to see the Killer Aunts and the Great-Grandparents so here we go. Grandma and Grandpa went with us and we left late Thursday night. Jack was pretty confused when I got him out of his crib and put him in his carrier. He was a great sport. He barely made a fuss the whole way. Early Friday morning we stopped for breakfast and he sat in his pod chair the whole time babbling and smiling. He stretched and stretched when he finally got out of the carrier. We really had a good time seeing everyone. Aunt Kathy called Jack a "peanut" and Aunt Jackie thought he was just adorable. It was so fun to see Grandma Gruber play with Jack. She just loved to hold him and talk to him. We also got to take a picture of four generations of Gruber men. Grandpa Gruber held Jack for that picture, after all that is who he is named after. I think Jack really enjoyed being at Aunt Kathy's. He slept through the night the whole time we were there. Unfortunately we missed Aunt Jane by a week. She was there for Easter. I guess that means we'll have to make a trip to San Diego. I think we'll try flight for that one.

A Walk on the Moon

April 5, 2007

On Thursday our friends from St Louis, Marc and Tricia, came into town. Jonathan cooked hot wings and ribs on the grill and we just caught up. They brought Jack the most adorable little Hawaiian swim suit and Timberland shoes. I can't wait to see that teenie little suit on him. They couldn't believe how little he was. He smiled and squealed at them and showed them how he plays with his toys. On Friday we went to the US Space and Rocket Center. I carried Jack around in his carrier so that he could see everything. We stopped in at the gift shop and got Jack a "squish ball" and a new book about space. He decided it was time for his nap when it was time for us to go through the museum. He took a ride in his stroller for that. I can't wait to take him back to the IMAX theater when he gets a little older.

Sleep and Poop

April 1, 2007

On Friday we went to Nana and Pop's for the night. We did some shopping and just played. I decided that we were going to try cereal again. But this time, I decided to try some applesauce in it. Well, it was quite a chore to get Jack to eat it. With the help of Aunt Angie and Kayla, we managed to get several bites actually in his mouth. Jack finally went to sleep about 9:30 pm (his usual bedtime is 8:30) and woke up at 6:30 am. Yep, that's right.....9 whole hours. I couldn't believe it. I had to look at the clock about three times before I believed it. Nana said she even got up at 3:30 am and checked to make sure Jack was OK, because she had not heard us up.

On Saturday I took Jack to Grandma and Grandpa's. He got to see Uncle Josh get ready for his senior prom. He also got to see Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Amy. On Sunday morning we all went to church. Grandma got Jack all ready in one of his Easter outfits. He looked soo cute. Jack did great for his first church visit. He just sat in my lap staring at the pattern on Grandma's dress then dozed off to sleep. He woke up about half way through the service and had a bottle, still not making a peep. About the time I was trying to get a burp, I got just the opposite. Thunder down under. I looked down and what do you think I saw? Yep, poop...in my hand. So here we go off to the nursery to get cleaned up. We returned to the sanctuary to catch the last five minutes of the service but Jack decided he didn't want any part of that so out we go. Overall, he did very good for his first trip to church.
