Monkey Business

October 31, 2007

The more that Jack gets in to, the further I get behind on the blog. Jack's first Halloween was a great success. We decided that it was appropriate for Jack to be a monkey, since that is what he

acts like. He was the perfect little monkey. We had a couple of friends over and our friend Marshall dressed up as a scary old man and Uncle Todd as a hunchback man. Todd would help the kids up to the porch toward the scary music playing where Marshall sat with the talking candy bowl. Just as the children reached down for candy Marshall would scare them. We had some kids throwing bags of candy up in the air, some screaming, some running and some of them would not even approach the house without a lot of help from their parents. Jack loved it. He got scared when Marshall first put on the costume but after that just looked at the other kids like, "why are you screaming? It's just Marshall". Yeah, not scared of the music or the candy bowl which has a hand that comes down to scare you. We didn't really think that he was quite ready for actual trick-or-treating, we were wrong. He just took off down the sidewalk like all the other children. So we took him to some of the neighbors and he would walk right up and get his candy. He got to have his first dum-dum sucker. He had such a good time that he didn't want to go to bed. I finally had to put him down when he got too fussy, monkey suit and all.
